Conference regarding commemoration of the 18 th anniversary of the Khojaly massacre took place in UNAM, Mexico City

On February 23, 2010 in the framework of international campaign “Justice for Khojaly” a Conference regarding commemoration of the 18 th anniversary of the Khojaly massacre, took place at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)

The conference was organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the United Mexican States, the governing body of the UNAM and the National coordinator of the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly” in Mexico, Luiz Felipe Perez. UNAM professors and students, Embassies’ representatives accredited in Mexico and mass media also took part in the conference.

During the conference, H.E. Ambassador Ilgar Mukhtarov, of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Mexican States, Professor of the State University of Montana in the U.S.A., Mr. Thomas Goltz, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Association of Latin America, Mr. Natik Atakishiyev and Professor of the UNAM University, Mr. Karlos Bayesteros delivered speeches on which they shared their reflections about the history and results of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The documentary “Khojaly massacre in Azerbaijan”, web sites in Spanish on the Khojaly massacre - (www.justiciaparajodyali.org and www.justiceforkhojaly.mx) as well as a musical clip by Toni Blakman and the “Dayirman” group, dedicated to the Khojaly events, were presented at the event.

At the end of the event, the conference participants signed registration to join the “Justice for Khojaly” international campaign.

The date of 26 February 2010 marks the eighteens anniversary of the Khojaly massacre – a bloody crime against humanity committed by Armenian military forces, who performed a monstrous slaughter of the peaceful inhabitants of the town of Khojaly in Azerbaijan.

At night from February 25th to 26th of 1992, armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, along with the support of the 366th. motorized infantry regiment of former USSR, committed an unthinkable, brutal crime. They mercilessly massacred hundreds of helpless, innocent civilians. They forgave no one, killing the elderly, women and even children.
